Not in any meaningful sense. They're not intrinsic, they're artificially created, usually for the purpose of exerting control over others within a defined group; often comes with a "join or die" mentality that while not always literal, is very much about subjugation. Only individual rights exist in any real sense. Disagree?
Change my mind.

I don't disagree. That's sort of why I'm here now. The Jedi community treated me as inferior. Despite my years of experience, they would have me go through their educational system to earn my rank and gain their respect. It's bullshit.

I believe in negative rights. They are far more stable.
Negative rights are perfect for individuality because they make no empty promises, and they only demand the most common inter-human courtesy. It is very hard to distort negative rights and harder to take them from individuals.
- Example: People don't have the right to live but no one has the right to kill either.
This means that no one can expect me to pay for million dollar, slim chance surgery for some fat person who cuts themselves every month or so. No pious expectations from society. They can help others if they want to but there is no room to place demands on the individual. No one can claim that life is a right and no one can enforce it even if they try. It does however leave room for self defense. If someone tries to kill you, you can kill them because they have violated the rule and no longer deserve its protection.
- Example: People don't have the right to be rich or wealthy but no one has the right to steal what we do have.
This means no politician can corral the dumb masses by promising free stuff taken from me. No one can claim that they deserve more than they actually get, so their fate is in their own hands, and they cannot try to use society to rob if they aren't willing to earn.
- Example: People don't have authority or positions of authority over others and no one has the right to shut me up and cut off my ability to influence either.
I try to operate in a world of negative rights. At every turn they seem to be the enlightened path, allowing me to realize all of the greatness within myself, without getting into a world domination scheme or tolerating someone else's.
I think that most current political views make the same fatal mistake. They start off by making some good points. Life isn't fair, some people need help, people need direction. All good points but they all end with "______ So I have to take power and make you do the right thing". You can see the Jedi and Sith both doing this, which kept them permanently locking horns and dragging the whole galaxy into a bloodbath that served no one well.
People always trying to control other people.
In Religion its: "Allah said it so now I HAVE to make YOU do it". In Politics its: "Because this problem that we can all agree exists I need to force individuals to do my will." In Society its: "The many are more important than the few even though progress is mostly invented by the few."
If you think only in terms of negative rights you will lose so many controlling illusions that society has chained you down with. You will feel like you are flying.

Stability is a lie and an expensive illusion to hold onto. I am just a tiny micro organism here worming my way through this vast jungle. I have no importance and i get to shine for a little bit. When i lost my self entitlement i realized how powerless i truly am in this world and how powerful that lesson can be. There is what I create from the void. I don't spend time thinking in negative or positive. Technically people can kill and steal because of the thing called free will. So ]they can now whether or not people agree with that is up to them. *shrug* remove the self importance. I feel empowered when i stopped worrying about all my choices and doing life right. I don't try i just aim to do. There is a cause/affect to every choice i make yet it's not negative or positive. Most of this is all in the ego. drop that mother fucker to the ground.
i agree that I have have no rights! I am just here for a bit and then die off. Enjoy it while you can. Don't think much of it or take yourself too seriously. -Yami

Yeah, I suppose your endgame makes a difference. I decided a long time ago that if there isn't something after this life then I might as well die. There is no point to life for me. I don't care about leaving behind a legacy. I don't pretend that I can save one person, let alone humanity. They have to save themselves and sometimes I get to help a little. So if life simply ends than it might as well end today.
I don't know that there is any form of existence after there, but if there is something, then I think the purpose of my life is to learn and grow. Getting better, one life upon another. I choose to act as if there will be some continuation of my existence and learn as much as possible and improve.
So, society might be useful from time to time but it always threatens to become a serious distraction and a dangerous and uncaring master. Thus, I must find a way to deal with society. If I don't come up with a solution for the meddling, manipulations, robbery, and domination that society always tries to push on the individual, it will win and keep me too weak to fight back.
Hence, I have to find a better form of government. A way for many individuals to conduct themselves so that we interfere with each other as little as possible and hopefully benefit from each other as much as possible.
I think Negative rights is the best way. It also helps me develop my life philosophy. Like "peace is a lie, there is only passion".
"The right to live until you die of old age is a lie, there is only the individual's respect for life." "The right to be wealthy and successful is a lie, there is only your industriousness and cunning." "The right to control other people is a lie, there is however earned respect."
This is what I mean by negative rights. An no politician can hijack negative rights because he has nothing to buy people off with. There are not taxes so he can't give aid to his favorite group at the individual's expense. He can't pass laws against or for anything because negative rights are decided upon and enforced by the individual. I won't do this to other people. If they try to do this to me, they lose that protection. Its the simplest law possible for many reasons. Its at a personal level but it scales to all sizes. Its power comes from the individual. It resists all forms of corruption except for the weakness of the individual but individuals that are too weak can't weaponized their corruption against others because no Negative Right infringes on any individual. It can only do the opposite.
I think this is extremely important because it essentially deals with all political problems and a lot of moral and philosophic ones as well.
