In my lineage of Tantra, we place a high emphasis on the use of Mudras in meditation. If you are unaware, mudras are hand signs. The belief is that the nadis and chakras in the subtle body have particular associations (whether they are with elements, spirits, or other metaphysical concepts, or on a less subtle level with organs and sensations), and that by manipulating our hands into specific positions, we can manipulate the flow of energy in our bodies and around us. We have a multitude of mudras for different purposes, and while I won't share them all here, I thought I'd share a few of them with you that you may find useful in a Sith meditation practice. Bear in mind, I am posting via mobile and have no idea how to embed images, so I'll be linking to appropriate images when necessary.
Up first is the Kalesvara Mudra, or the Third Eye Mudra. Used to awaken the psychic abilities, it is quite useful for any occult student. I consider it a foundational mudra personally, though some may disagree. In any event, the mudra is simple to form. Sit in a meditative pose and breathe deeply, relaxing yourself. Bring your hands together and touch the tips of your fingers and thumbs to their opposites. With your thumbs pointed down and your fingers pointed up, curl your index, ring, and pinky fingers inwards, so that their knuckles rest against each other. Your middle fingers should still be fully extended, pointing up. This will give you an ideal visual: images.app.goo.gl/N9eDGaM2k2ZqxCig9
Hold this mudra during meditation for 5 or so minutes and focus on awakening the Ajna chakra in your third eye.
Next up, the Kali Mudra. A personal favorite, this is a simple mudra for destroying tension and negative attitudes, as well as for destroying the illusion of yourself so that you may confront your true self. To perform this mudra, clasp your hands together and extend your pointer fingers out together. Cross your thumbs slightly, as in this image: images.app.goo.gl/wDX8z4DNmnYpADYd7
Hold this for 5 minutes or so while focusing on your goals.
Finally, the Garuda Mudra. A mudra of fire and energy, this one is connected to the Solar plexus. Use this mudra to awaken your energy, as well as awaken your passions, the corner stone of our philosophy. Plus, performing this mudra and cackling will make you feel like an anime villain, which does nothing for your spiritual growth, but is fun. Anyways, the Garuda Mudra is formed by crossing your hands over your chest, palms towards your body, and linking your thumbs, as in the image: images.app.goo.gl/FS4VrGyW1kA6dJ8N9
Focus on awakening your inner fire while holding this mudra and meditating for 5 or so minutes.
As you grow accustomed to mudra meditation, you can supplement your development by extending your meditation time, adding in breath work such as pranayama breathing, mantra recitation, or whatever else is appropriate for your practice. Enjoy.
