And just for the record, at a previous incarnation of OotS I once said... What do you personally think of this whole "Empire" idea? I personally was mainly attracted to it because of my affinity to Platonic state philosophy and because I believe a centralized system might be better suited to further spiritual and social growth in our time. I'm not very fond of the idea. The original intent of American government seems pretty well in line with what I believe in, and seems most in line with what I see as intrinsic human nature. Capitalism is fantastic, and the only regulation that's really needed imo is the kind that restricts stupidity. People seem to have a low opinion of greed, but that's human nature. Capitalism is just the most honest about it, the closest to freely acknowledging greed. The only problems that arise are from stupidity (instant gratification despite the enermous long-term fall out and costs is, plainly put, stupid). Equal treatment is fine by me... under the law anyways, because none of us are really equal but that's not for the government to decide. To me, where you fall on the totem pole is best decided by choices and actions, neither of which should be very restricted by government. Individual liberty... doesn't really require much explanation. Neither does social mobility. That's not to say the system we have, as it exists now, hasn't been bastardized or screwed up, but the essence of it doesn't really contradict my understanding of the world and it doesn't really contradict what you might call 'Sith ideology', nor would it impede practice of the Sith Ways... of course, that's not really the right way to say what I mean. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what's in your way (a fascist regime isn't even an excuse), but to my way of thinking the American form of government, at it's best, seems like it would be the best in terms of enabling and encouraging the ways of the Sith.
